HCPSS 31st Annual Senior Show & Junior Portfolio Development Exhibition
JUNIORSSENIORS |
This year would mark the 31st Annual HCPSS Senior Show and Junior Portfolio Development Exhibition at the Board of Education Gallery.
The annual exhibition is an integral part of the HCPSS visual arts program. For student artist it is a culminating and essential part of the creative process to present their work to a wider audience. The exhibition allows students to share not only the skills they have developed over the course of a multi-year sequential curriculum, but just as importantly it honors their aesthetic choices and personal voice. In addition, it is through providing our junior and senior artists with the model of a juried exhibition experience that we honor the development of important artistic behaviors such as choice making, communication, risk taking, and perseverance. Unfortunately, due to the continuing health situation, the HCPSS office of visual arts is unable to formally recognize the artistic growth of our senior and junior art students in a traditional fashion. To honor students’ hard work, research, skill development, perseverance, and vision the HCPSS visual arts office has assembled this online exhibition. We congratulate the graduating class of 2021, we wish you success on your continued journey and look forward to seeing the work of our rising juniors and seniors of the class of 2022 in the future. The fine arts (theatre, visual art, music and dance) communicate a broad range of customs, beliefs, ideas and feelings; they are the primary means of transmitting culture throughout history, influencing an enormous range of human activity and discovery. The arts are an essential part of every child’s learning and cognitive development, sharpening analytical skills, encouraging abstract associations, innovative thinking, and creative problem solving. The Visual Arts program educates students through rigorous and meaningful child-centered learning experiences. Curriculum and instruction is designed to foster 21st century skills, encompassing critical and creative thinking, self-direction, perseverance, and accountability in the making of personal works of art.
